General Information
Coaching Highland was originally set up as Gael Force Ten in May 1995 to develop sports coaches in the Highlands of Scotland across ten sports at any one time. Our primary aims are to develop coaches and talented junior athletes:
1. Improve the quality and quantity of sports coaches in the Highlands.
2. Provide progressive opportunities for young people to participate in sport at all levels.
The organisation is made up of 3 staff and we are based in a small office next to the athletics stadium in the grounds of Inverness Leisure, Bught Park, Inverness.
The project has grown to be extremely successful with increasing budgets and additional programmes being developed. We offer support to our core sports which at present are:

These sports are reviewed annually and are subject to change depending on careful selection and graduation criteria. These sports each receive £3,000 financial support per annum for coach education and development plus planning and administrative support by the Coaching Highland staff. Historically, we have also had Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Disability Sport, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Orienteering, Rugby, Shinty and Tennis as core sports.
During the early half of 2005, we re-established ourselves as Coaching Highland (a company limited by guarantee) and have put in place a Board of Directors who strive to continue this growth. We now have programmes to support coaches of all sports in the area and with several funders who have continued to demonstrate their support, we are making a significant impact on the development of coaches and coaching in the Highlands.
In fact, we have funded over 2,500 individual coaches and trained over 2,500 multi-activity sports leaders. Maybe Coaching Highland could help you too?

We have written to our company members (the 8 local sports councils in Highland), to invite them to attend an EGM to vote on the following resolution: We, the Directors of Coaching Highland, having considered all available courses of action available to us following an independent study and options appraisal, propose that Coaching Highland is wound up and all assets and liabilities are transferred to High Life Highland on 31st March 2012.
