Inverness Junior Badminton Club organised the Badminton Leaders course which was recently held at Culloden Academy. Candidates from Hilton Badminton Club, Culloden Academy, and Crown School also attended the course.

The club is attempting to develop the sport by having more active and committed coaches to work with young players in the area, and to have a larger pool of coaches within the clubs.

It is hoped that all the successful candidates will, after putting their new coaching skills into practice, proceed to the Level 1 coaching award.

The club thanks Elissa Steven of Coaching Highland for her help and assistance in the funding of the course.

Inverness Junior Badminton Club holds sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the year. During the last year the club organised around 170 sessions with qualified coaches in attendance.

One of the aims of the club is to progress the players to its Sunday session which is by invitation only, and is aimed at the performance scale of the sport. Selected players from Badminton Moray are also invited to the Sunday session as part of the networking arrangements between Inverness Junior Badminton Club and Badminton Moray.

Players are actively encouraged to compete in local tournaments and in the Central Belt.
