sports coach UK, Sport England and SkillsActive are spearheading a review of the UKCC. The review will be conducted in partnership with Governing Bodies of Sport, the Home Country Sports Councils and UK Sport in line with a key principle of the UKCC - that of continuous improvement, ensuring that it continues to be fit for purpose.

It will analyse feedback from partners on what has worked well and what has not, and consider the evolving environment in which coaches and coaching are developing. The review will extend to an examination of:

• National Occupational Standards and associate units of common content
• UKCC endorsement criteria
• UKCC endorsement process
• The support offered around the UKCC to Governing Bodies of Sport
• The costs associated with the UKCC (Sport England have communicated with Governing Bodies of Sport requesting them to complete a UKCC costings review)
• Communication mechanisms around the UKCC

An outline project plan of the review process will be made available in March 2010.
